Valentines Banner and Cards, 100th Day and More!

Who doesn't love having a few snow days in January to get something accomplished that equates to sharing some freebie 💗love💗 with other librarian friends?

I needed a little something to go over a book display for Valentine's Day, so I created this 'Love to Read' banner

Lots of schools are gearing up for their 100th Day of School Celebrations, so I thought this book number writing activity would be fun for kindergarten and first grade to complete in the library or for sharing with classroom teachers.

I previously created some Christmas cards that lots of people used for centers/stations, gifts for nursing home residents, and for students' families, so I thought a set of Valentine's Day cards would be fun, too.

I'm a second-year member of the Missouri Association of School Librarians  (MASL) Curriculum Committee (formerly Lesson Plan Database Task Force) which allows me to curate and create free lesson plans for librarians for the MASL Lesson Plan Database. Be sure to check out some of my latest additions for The Library Fish by Alyssa Satin Capucilli and Dot. Unplugged by Randi Zuckerberg. You could use these for regular library lessons or they would also be great as substitute plans.

Google Forms Headers for Missouri Reader Award Nominees + Voting and Response Forms

I just finished getting all my Missouri Reader Award Nominee Google Forms created for voting for my K-2 students and response forms for my 4-12 students, so I thought I'd share what I've finished.

Feel free to right click and save the pictures you need.

I didn't purchase the Dogwood Reader Award nominees this year, but wanted to include headers in case someone needs them.

Dogwood 6-8 Readers Award Nominee Google Forms Header

Dogwood 9-12 Readers Award Nominee Google Forms Header

Below are a few examples of how I use the Google Forms for voting with K-3 students and for book responses for 4th-12th.

For voting...

I don't generally have a lot of students who end up reading enough books to vote in 4-12, so once I see who has finished at least 4, I just ask students which nominee was their favorite and I mark their answers on the Google Form spreadsheet from their book response so I can have everything in one place when it's time to submit votes.

Enjoy!

*FREE* Reading Signs for Your Classroom or Library

I created these signs to frame in my library when my theme was "Reading is Sweet". I purchased black 8" x 10" picture frames from Dollar Tree and cut the signs to size and hung them with 3M Command Velcro Strips. They looked so cute and really popped against our gray walls. These printable signs are actually black and white.

I created this set to be editable for adding color to the background for those with access to a color printer. However, I printed mine on bright colored paper from Wal-Mart. I also created the last sign with a blank in the area of 'a cupcake' so you could change it to say whatever you like. The font is MTF Skinny and the size is 166. If you use these signs, I would love to see a picture! Click here or on any picture below to take you to the free download.

For more pictures of my "Reading is Sweet" themed library decor click here to visit my library Facebook album.

Five Little Ornaments Subtraction Emergent Reader with FREEBIES!

I'm having so much fun being snowed in that I might be guilty of refreshing the school closings web page of our local news station no more than 8 million times in the last hour to see if my school has been added to the list. Yes, I receive texts from the Principal, Facebook messages, emails and a phone call, but knowing right away is such an amazing feeling! ;) Ha! Does anyone else share in this excitement?

Okay, maybe I should lay off the Coca-Cola a little! :)

This morning, I created an emergent reader and a few freebies to go along with it. Be sure to check them out! Click on the pictures to take you to my TpT store to purchase the reader or download the freebies! Just so you know, the freebies are included in the reader file if you purchase it.

{FREE} Halloween Teddy Bear Bookmarks

I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined that kids would go through bookmarks the way they do! I can't keep the basket stocked each week. I have to admit though, next to the smell of the Bookmobile when I was a kid, getting new bookmarks rated pretty high up on the scale for fabulous things about checking out a book for me, too. ;)

I created a little Halloween bookmark freebie and thought you might enjoy it, too! I have included color and black/white copies for your convenience. Just click on the picture below to grab them!
