Five Green and Speckled Frogs Shared Reading and Finger Puppets {FREEBIE}

I received a comment on TpT from a sweet reader, Cheryl from Crayons and Curls, saying she would love to see some finger puppets to go along with my Five Green and Speckled Frogs Emergent Reader. I thought that was a great suggestion, so I created a freebie for her and to share with all of you! I hope you like it! I also added a Shared Reading piece for an ELA connection and made both items in color and black/white.

Also, if you haven't already downloaded it, my Hopping Fun Frog Hundreds Chart freebie would tie in even more math.

Let's Explore the Common Core! {Linky Party}

Lil’ Country Kindergarten

While I've found most of the changes from our Grade Level Expectations to the Common Core State Standards to be very positive, the hardest part is rewriting our curriculum and developing new curriculum maps. However, that has been made so much easier by others who have shared the work their districts have already done. I have found a lot of different things that I like about each of the curriculum maps or pacing guides below. This will make it so much easier when we get back to school to begin developing our own curriculum and curriculum maps.

If you have a Common Core curriculum map or pacing guide that you are willing to share or would like to link up, please do so below. I'm sure that those of us who aren't finished would very much appreciate your contributions. :)

My Dad is Mr. Fix-It! Emergent Reader for Father's Day and DIY Dad Freebie

Although I'm not in school to celebrate Father's Day, I realize that some of you may be teaching Summer School or possibly year-round school, so I created an emergent reader to help your students celebrate Father's Day. Use this reader to celebrate do-it-yourself (DIY) dads. The reader is called My Dad is Mr. Fix-It!

Click on the picture below to purchase a copy in my TpT store. Don't forget, it will be on sale through Monday, May 28.

You can also download a DIY Dad Ten Frame and Base Ten Number Match to go along with this book. It's free! Just click on a picture below to download your copy!

Summer Fun Ten Frame and Base Ten Number Match Activity

Is it just me or is anyone else super thankful that they have air conditioning right about now? I love summer and summer activities, but I don't enjoy humidity or sweating at all! I actually had to give myself a pep talk to go outside to water my plants and shrubs.

So instead of playing outside, I've spent the majority of the day inside catching up on blog posts from the last month and a half. I have also started working on a few new items, as well. I went ahead and posted one in my TpT store. It's another ten frame and base ten number match called Summer Fun! I hope you like it! Just click on the picture below to purchase this activity from my TpT store!

Second day of summer break and I'm already planning for next year!

Yikes! I cannot believe it has been 2 1/2 weeks since my last post. I'm so sorry! In my defense, it was either my blog or my family during the craziness we call the end of the year and as you can see, my family won out! :) I hope you understand and stick with me!

I spent my first day of summer vacation working in the yard yesterday with my family. We planted shrubs, blackberries, raspberries, tomatoes, and several pretty plants. I mowed the yard and worked on lots of weeding. It was great to be outside and just enjoy the fresh air. I was outside from 9:30 AM to 9:45 PM with the occasional break for water, meals and potty breaks. It was so refreshing!

With all the time I had to think, I couldn't stop thinking about what I'm going to do differently next year. Do you do this? I am working on a few Common Core lessons and mapping out my year.

Lately, my nights have been filled with catching up on blog posts by some fabulous teachers. I don't know how all of you survive the last few weeks of school and still find time to blog everyday. I am in awe! I couldn't even get ahead enough to schedule posts.

I'm anxious for summer break and I hope that most of you are already out of school or are getting out soon. I look forward to adding lots more to my blog over the summer. In the mean time, feel free to share or let me know what you'd like to see from me.

Have a blessed summer!

Cinco de Mayo Hundreds Chart

I had a request from a sweet reader, Brooke, to make a sombrero hundreds chart for Cinco de Mayo and I tried really hard to make one work, but it kept looking like a weird, brightly colored cowboy hat. So, I found a picture of maracas online and thought maybe they would work instead. What do you think? Is it too over the top and cheesy?

How sad is it that I didn't even know that Cinco de Mayo was Spanish for the fifth of May until I was an adult? Clearly I'm sheltered and have had zero foreign language classes in my lifetime! I am pretty sure the only reason I know how to count to 10 in Spanish is because of watching Sesame Street as a child. :)

If you celebrate Cinco de Mayo with your students or kiddos, feel free to click here or on the picture below to get your freebie!

Please be sure to let me know if you find any errors. :)
