3D Shapes Poem {Freebie}

Thanks so much to each of you who commented on my last post about needing help with ideas for 3D shapes. I am going to try to implement lots of them this week. I also found a poem and made it a little more kinder friendly. I'll probably add it to our Reading Binders and try to recite it the rest of the week. WARNING--Do not read the following statement if we're teetering on the edge of friendship, because I promise this will automatically put me in frenemy status for unnecessary grossness! :) You have been warned!

On a somewhat unrelated note, several people mentioned using toilet paper tubes as a match for cylinders and I can't get a little scenario out of my head.

I can't remember who said this, but I was in a workshop and the presenter mentioned not asking for students to bring in toilet paper rolls anymore. She suggested asking for paper towel tubes and then cutting them to size. The reason: most people change the roll while still on the, ahem...'pot',  before they've washed their hands. Then, you put them up to your eyes for binoculars and make cute crafts out of them and you know for a fact where a person's hands have been. EEEWWW! I've never looked at toilet paper tube activities the same again.

I know you wish I wouldn't have mentioned that, but now you'll have the same visual so now I can get it out of my head and put it into yours. Ha!

    Cute poem! It will be great for kinders to learn those shapes! Should it read for cube: A cube is like dice you drop? or A cube is like the dice you drop? since dice is plural?

      I thought the same thing because of dice being plural, but was afraid to change it from whoever originally wrote it. However, since you noticed it too, I changed it. :)

    The poem is just perfect as we're doing 3D shape review this week! Thank you...this is my first time reading and commenting on your blog (found you on Pinterest) and I laughed out loud at the TP roll visual. Fortunately, I change the roll when I'm OFF the toilet and I only use rolls that I collect myself. I save them all summer to have plenty to use throughout the school year! I always hesitate a bit when I ask for kids to bring things from home...you just never know!

      I'm so glad that the poem might be useful for you. :) However, I can't take credit for the words of the poem, I just took the poem and made it cuter for my Kinder kiddos! Ha! Thanks so much for commenting! :)

      I am proud of you for changing the roll after you're off the toilet! You truly never know!

    I had the same visual in mind. As a result, I have never requested the T.P. rolls. So thanks for sharing the poem and visual for all to read and process.

    What a sweet comment! Thank you so much! :) You should definitely start a blog. I, too, started out thinking that no one would want to read anything I wrote, but I did it anyway. It was a great place for me to keep everything categorized and safe between home and school.

    Some days, I don't have anything profound to say, so I just don't blog. Some days, I feel like I post 20 things and can't stop 'talking'. I think the best part about blogging is getting to know other early childhood teachers and parents who know just what you're going through on a daily basis. The support from other bloggers is amazing, as well! I love that someone is always there to help or offer encouraging words. Plus, I have learned more through blogging and reading other blogs than I ever have at all the PD events I've ever gone to. Let me know if you decide to start a blog.
