My Library Office (Before & During Pictures)

Way back in February, I had the chance to take my first real sneak peek into my future library office, so I snapped a few pictures. I love to organize, so I loved the challenge to get it all whipped into shape and to make everything easily accessible. Last weekend, I began the official transition from Kindergarten teacher to librarian! I was able to get in and start making the office ready for the upcoming year before the kids and para were here for summer school. Our library is super small, so I feel like everything will need to be organized to be efficient for everyone.

I will post before/after pictures once summer school is out. The library is suppose to get sheet rock over paneling and possibly new carpet, and a few more updates, so that will be fun, too!

Here are the before pictures, as in before the office was mine! :) (I really wish I would have taken pictures the day I started working because stuff was piled around even worse.)

Before...

Here are the 'during' pictures. I'm not done yet, but I had to quit because I ran out of time. ;) (By the way...yes, there are picture frames with the original pictures in them. I'm waiting for my para to add her family pics.) The bottom two shelves in the middle are my para's things. She will be the summer school librarian, so I tried not to mess up her stuff too much.

During...

 This will be our new and improved book repair station.

 I will have all the containers and cabinets labeled a little more cutesy when I get back.

It may not look like much, but it took a lot of time to get it this way and it was soooo much fun! ;)

Student Supply Responsibility {Sorting Mat}

I love this idea by From the Pond! The mat was made for sorting colored pencils, but I could see myself having my students use it to make sure they don't have more than they need in their art boxes. Also, if they are missing a color, they can tell at a glance which one they need without me having to go through all their crayons. I love the idea that this encourages student responsibility and reinforces color recognition and one-to-one matching. :)

Sewn baggie storage

I love this idea and and it looks so colorful! I think this would work perfectly for all our plastic play money, too. Great for sorting, as well!
