Hugo and the Impossible Thing (written by Renee Felice Smith and Chris Gabriel) is a Show-Me Reader Award Nominee for Missouri for the 2023-2024 school year. It's such a great book for teaching students that they can do hard things and to not give up because others say something can't be done. I love animal stories with a moral! Sydney Hanson's illustrations are perfectly sweet, too!
Be sure to visit www.hugoandtheimpossiblething.com to read about the real Hugo.
There are a variety of activities that I tried to differentiate for Kindergarten/first and second/third grades. I also included a few digital activities if you prefer to have your students working on skills online.
